On this page you can define a way of dialing phone numbers that is convenient to you.
By default, the Dialing Rules feature is disabled. This means that the system identifies calls arriving from a user as being in the E.164 format. If the Dialing Rules feature is enabled by your service provider, this will allow you to define various dial plan parameters such as an international dialing prefix or area code, feature access codes.
You can select one of the predefined dialing rules from the list.
To define your own translation rule, select Custom Rule from the list.
Verify that for all examples provided (domestic and international calls) this is how you want the numbers dialed and click Save.
You can also review whether a caller’s number will be translated according to the selected rule for incoming and outgoing calls. (Note that only administrators can turn the translation feature on and off.)
When the dialing rule is defined with a Perl regular expression, in the Check for yourself section, type the phone number in the format you are accustomed to and click Test.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Call parking prefixes |
|
Park Prefix |
An end user can dial this access code to park a call.
The default value is *70.
This access code is available only if call parking is enabled for the customer. |
Release Prefix |
An end user can dial this access code to retrieve a call from the parked status.
The default value is *71.
This access code is available only if call parking is enabled for the customer. |
Private call prefixes |
|
Hide CLI Prefix |
An end user can dial this code before dialing the phone number to prohibit the calling number from being displayed to the called party.
The default value is *67.
This access code is available only if Hide CLI is enabled for the account. |
Show CLI Prefix |
An end user can dial this access code before dialing the phone number to allow the calling number to be displayed to the called party.
The default value is *68.
This access code is available only if Hide CLI is enabled for the account. |
Other prefixes and codes |
|
Group Pickup Prefix |
An end user can dial this access code to answer a call that arrives to the IP Centrex environment (customer’s accounts) or the hunt group this end user belongs to.
The default value is *40.
This access code is available only if group call pickup is enabled for the customer. |
Paging/Intercom Prefix |
An end user can dial this service code before a phone number to establish an intercom connection (two-way communication using phone’s loudspeakers) with a colleague (within the same IP Centrex).
The default value is *33.
This service code is available only when Paging/Intercom is enabled for the customer. |
Transfer the forwarded call |
You can dial this access code while on a call to transfer the call to another end user.
This feature is available only for forwarded calls.
For example, the client calls Peter at his office phone. Peter is not in the office now but the forwarding from his office phone to his mobile is configured. Thus Peter receives the call from a client at his mobile number and wants to transfer it to his colleague Ann at extension 1002. Peter dials *661002#, and when Ann confirms that she is free to take the call, Peter hangs up. Ann then speaks with the client.
The default value is *66.
This access code is available only if Forward by DTMF is enabled for the customer. |
Bypass Dial Plan |
When an end user dials this access code before dialing a phone number, the system doesn’t translate the phone number according to a defined dialing rule.
For example, Peter uses the dialing rule that adds country prefix 1 and area prefix 200 to any number dialed. Peter dials 5552211 and the system translates this number to 12005552211 before processing it further (performing rate lookup, etc.) Since Peter has Bypass dial plan code *69 assigned, he can avoid adding the country and area prefixes to the dialed number. For this, he dials *695552211. Then the system omits the “translation step” and processes 5552211 as it is.
The default value is *69. |
Call supervision prefixes and DTMFs |
These are prefixes and DTMF codes that allow a user to join an active call in the “Spy,” “Whisper,” or “Barge-in” mode. For example, to join a call made by an agent with extension 888 in the “Spy” mode, a manager dials the corresponding prefix followed by the extension: *90888. To switch, e.g., from the “Spy” to “Whisper” mode, the manager dials the DTMF code for the “Whisper” mode: 1. To switch to the “Barge-in” mode, the manager dials 2.
Refer to the Call supervision chapter for more details.
